We have met the enemy–and is it me?

A 21st century Cape Cod detective awakens 2,000 years in the future with no memory. She’s told she’s either pursuing a group of time-traveling terrorists from her era who want to steal 41st century technology, return to the past, and change history—or she’s one of them!

The society she arrives in, however, is radically different from her own and rejects the central features of her culture. In addition to determining who she is, then, the detective will need to decide which kind of world should be allowed to exist.

The search for her identity is unsettling. She begins to manifest psychic abilities. Even more disturbing is a vision about a past life, a telepathic encounter with dolphins, and an ancient chronicle’s possible reference to her. Is she is part of some larger drama that is unfolding?

In addition to being an engaging read, the book is similar to Ursula LeGuin’s The Dispossessed: An Ambiguous Utopia–a challenge to re-examine our most cherished assumptions about ourselves and our societies.
